Dog Boy a favourite for 2009
Eva Hornung's Dog Boy has appeared on several lists of the best books of 2009.
The Canberra Times says: ‘The degree to which [Hornung] exercises her literary imagination is extraordinary, immersing herself completely within Romochka’s psyche, as well as the psyche of the entire dog pack…Dog Boy’s heartbreaking ending is difficult to forget.’
And in the Age Geraldine Brooks also picked Dog Boy as one of the best fiction reads of the year. 'This is a wonderful, intense and profoundly moving book from a writer of rare gifts.’
This extraordinary novel is about to be released internationally, with editions forthcoming from Bloomsbury UK, Viking USA and HarperCollins Canada in 2010. Translations are in the works from Suhrkamp (Germany), Piemme (Italy), House of Books (Netherlands), Salamandra (Spain) and Paz e Terra (Brazil).
